Client: Hard Rock Int’l, and All Inclusive Collection

Hard Rock Vallarta – As you approach the hotel, a 60’ long water trough spills into the main pond. A ‘snake’ made out of purple hued stones starts at the double guitar sculpture and ends at the lower pond. Guests interact with the Ponds using the seating deck, pathway and bridges. The pool area includes rock work, palm trees, a shallow chaise pool with bistro tables, a new 2 level pool bar and a dance platform. A separate wet area for families has rock work, waterfalls, palm trees, a shallow zero entry pool and toddler slide, and a larger slide and grotto hot tub.

The Cancun Hard Rock is the renovation of an existing resort. The focus of the design effort was to transform the entry experience, the pool, roof top terraces and the landscape grounds into a compelling and dynamic place that evokes the excitement and edgy vibe of Hard Rock Hotel! The new entry takes on the shape of a mega guitar as viewed from the rooms above. The Spa couples tub, and infinity edge pool, both view out over the Atlantic to the east with a beautiful sun baked beach in the foreground.

Riviera Maya Hard Rock Resort is divided into two distinct areas; Hacienda for families, and Heaven for adults only. The entire resort is adjacent to a rugged iron-shore coast line so the design team developed a ‘Better Than a Beach’ waterfront experience; a series of tropical lagoons and coves and with sandy beaches and a continuous meandering kilometer-long beachfront promenade. The family side is toward the south with pools, beaches, a teen activity area and lagoon, and kid’s interactive water play zone. A large outdoor performance court called Woodstock separates the two sides. The adult area features pools and private beach lagoons and various secluded overlooks to watch crashing waves from atop the iron-shore. A unique design aspect is Stairway to Heaven, a series of seating terraces that ascend over a natural cenote lagoon that leads to the Heaven Bar.
