Epic work is
only possible
when you
have the
right people.
The kind of people who are good at what they do and know how to have fun in the process.
We always
take our
work seriously. But never ourselves.
We keep things light. We laugh hard. And we genuinely enjoy one another’s company. It’s our secret sauce. And when you work with us, we consider you part of the team. So prepare to roll up your sleeves and have some fun too.

At DTJ, great design isn’t just about aesthetics but about impact.
As we celebrate #WorldLandscapeArchitectureMonth, this week we’re reflecting on what it means to design spaces that do more than look good, like a drainage system that becomes a neighborhood amenity or a playground built with every kid in mind. Solutions that are as functional as they are meaningful, strengthening our communities.
📷: River Park – The accessibility of the park provides the highest level of play in Breckenridge with custom nature play elements, located in an affordable housing neighborhood.
📷: Richardson Park – Designed as a regional destination, this park features a universal access playground in addition to the various amenities that will serve surrounding communities.
📷: Daybreak Upper Villages – A world-class mountain bike terrain integrated with a comprehensive stormwater management system.
📣 Big news! Architect Nathan Pepper has been promoted to Associate Principal! 🎉
Since joining DTJ in 2019, Nathan has led projects ranging from large-scale themed attractions to luxury resorts and hospitality destinations all over the globe. A registered architect in Colorado, his thoughtful, solution-driven design approach continues to elevate our work. We’re excited for the incredible places Nathan will help create in this next chapter. Congrats, Nathan!

🌎🌱We’re celebrating the power of Green Roof Professionals (GRP) and the creative solutions that help cities adapt to a changing climate. Our Associate Principal, Julie Hendricksen, is proud to advance this work as a Green Roof Professional, turning rooftops into climate-smart infrastructure. Julie’s encouraged by new research from Colorado showing green roofs may experience reduced, or even no, hail damage, proving they protect more than just the environment.

We’re celebrating #ArchitectureWeek with @aianational to highlight our architects who shape our studio, our work, and bring creativity to every design. Rooted in each project’s culture and context, our architecture studio brings to life our clients’ visions with a hands-on, customized approach.
We asked our architects what advice they’d give their younger selves at the beginning of their architectural journeys. Here’s what they shared and leave a comment with your own advice!
Last week, our planning studio took learning beyond the office and into the field, visiting the Ralston Fields Urban Renewal Area with Carrie Briscoe and the Arvada Urban Renewal Authority (AURA) @arvadaurbanrenewal. This hands-on tour offered a real-world view of how thoughtful planning shapes vibrant, enduring places. Seeing long-term vision, collaboration, and strategic redevelopment in action provides valuable perspective that will inform our work moving forward.
Thank you to AURA for an inspiring, in-depth look at this vision-driven, community-focused redevelopment effort in Arvada.
In this month’s Summit County Homes magazine, The Imperial in Breckenridge is prominently featured on the cover and in a full feature story. The full-length article highlights the project’s comprehensive approach to mountain resort design: an amenity-rich, mixed-use development that integrates a hotel, fractional residences, condos, and luxury single family offerings to elevate the ski-in/ski-out experience.

Site visits, collaborative charrettes, shared tools, and real dialogue with our clients; this is the work behind the work.
We believe the strongest ideas are shaped by expertise, built together, and tested in the field. From early stages of research and community engagement initiatives, we remain hands-on to turn vision into reality. Practice is where intention meets action.

Last week, we hosted Phoebe and Emily for UGA Shadow Day. They experienced an immersive, hands-on design charrette, where they brought their creative ideas to the table and presented to Partner, Todd Hill, and our Atlanta team.
UGA alumni Julia Kim and Eduardo Tapia spent the day mentoring Phoebe and Emily, giving them a tour of the Biltmore, and the Atlanta office while treating them to lunch along the way. Opportunities like this are where curiosity turns into confidence and experience turns into careers. @ugaced
Thanks for joining us Phoebe and Emily – we had a blast!
