Experience Compassion 2022
Cameron Peak Fire Wildlife Restoration

In 2022, the selected proposal for the DTJ Experience Compassion Grant was the restoration of wildlife in the Cameron Peak burn scar, submitted by John Torti.

First reported on August 13th, 2020, the Cameron Peak Fire took over 5 months to contain, and burned through 208,913 acres on the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Rocky Mountain National Park. As of 2026, it remains the largest wildfire in Colorado’s history.

Our firm teamed up with Wildlands Restoration Volunteers to reduce the impact of this fire and give nature a head start at becoming more resilient by seeding native plants, spreading mulch, and installing erosion control barriers during a volunteer day.

The project site was a fire-affected area along the Big Thompson River. This southernmost area of the Cameron Peak Fire is a critical watershed to Rocky Mountain National Park, one of our nation’s most popular and cherished National Parks. This initiative allowed our team to tend to our environment and help heal the beautiful nature surrounding us.
