Dacono City Center Vision Plan

The City of Dacono is an incorporated city in Weld County, located approximately 25-miles north of the Denver Metropolitan area. The Dacono City Center Vision Plan creates a long-term plan to shape the future identity of Dacono where all people are welcome.

In February 2025, City Council approved the Vision Plan, transforming a 157-acre site into a dynamic, vibrant hub that blends a mixed-use downtown ‘Main Street,’ municipal services, civic spaces, parks, and mixed-income housing options. The plan prioritizes community health, equity, and sustainability.

With a focus on placemaking and multi-modal connectivity, the City Center will provide access to amenities, connecting existing and future neighborhoods. The plan addresses community needs through new park functions, ballfields, municipal services, safe public spaces, retail, restaurants, cafes, and new housing types. The City Center will be unique to Dacono by expanding open spaces and improving liveability.

As Dacono grows and demographics shift, this plan balances the need for new civic services and creates a destination where people can live, work, recreate, and engage with one another, representing all Daconoans with quality urban spaces and walkable neighborhoods.

Community Engagement

From July to November 2024, DTJ collected community feedback at local events including the Dacono Music & Spirits Festival, Hispanic Heritage Celebration, and Glens Coalition Potluck. This input shaped program elements and preliminary concepts, guiding decisions for residential, commercial, and public development to reflect a shared community vision.

Bilingual Engagement

With over 35% of residents identifying as Hispanic and/or Latinx, DTJ partnered with the Glens Coalition (Pride of the Glens) to focus outreach through Spanish-speaking community groups. All project elements—including event signage, community outreach materials, the project website, and online surveys—were made available in both English and Spanish.

Community Needs

DTJ developed a detailed Community Needs Assessment (CNA) to guide future decision-making across residential, commercial, and public development.

Through collaboration with RCLCO and JVA, DTJ conducted thorough site analyses that transformed community aspirations into actionable priorities. Partnership with CivicBrand developed the project branding and messaging, customized website tool, and print collateral.
