Harlan Streetscape
Following the Downtown Streetscape Master Plan, the design team worked with the City’s horticulture team to transition away from the typical block-style planting layout to a matrix-style planting design which taps into the power of plant communities to allow for natural beauty and reduced maintenance. The revised design approach consists of four matrix zones (accent, grasses, midground, and screen/transitional) which were laid out in sweeping, artful patterns with the grass zones forming the foundation, punctuated with colorful and taller accent plants. The result will be a natural landscape which attracts pollinators, birds, and wildlife to the homeowners’ doorstep.
