Northpoint on Jarvis Creek
Northpoint on Jarvis Creek is designed to support local essential workforce housing needs while embracing the values and character of the Town of Hilton Head Island, developed through a private-public partnership between the Town and OneStreet Residential. The community creates a welcoming culture amongst thoughtfully designed homes in an interconnected neighborhood that reflects the Island’s standards of quality and environmental stewardship, allowing essential workers to live where they work and remain connected to the island they sustain. As the architect, landscape architect, and site planner, DTJ is proud to collaborate with the team to help support the Island’s long-term vitality.
The long, narrow site and limited access points influence the site design to create street-oriented architecture along parking streets and open space features framed by the buildings in the plan. A series of community gathering nodes are spaced at regular intervals, connected by open space and trails.
The community includes a mix of housing types within a walkable environment. The architectural style is inspired by the Lowcountry vernacular typical of Hilton Head Island and the surrounding region, with roofs that include pitched hips, Dutch gables, and shed roof forms supported by character-appropriate brackets, while Bahama shutters and louvers add texture and color to the buildings.
