Timothy Gauna Park

This Ennis City, Texas park honors the legacy of former Ennis resident, Navy sailor Timothy Gauna. Tim was killed in the U.S.S. Cole Bombing in October 2000. DTJ incorporated stories from interviews with Tim’s family, fellow sailors, and City representatives, crafting a renovation master plan that memorializes his story and improves the quality of life in his hometown. The spiraling layout is reminiscent of a galaxy, drawing visitors in towards the globelike memorial. The globe displays Tim’s journey across the world and recreates the spatial sensation of being enclosed in a ship at sea. Recreation offerings include a basketball court, field, playground, splashpad, restrooms, and event pavilion.
